EU wants to further develop cooperation with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan needs to continue liberalization of economy and formation of free market relations for further integration into the world economy, Ambassador Roland Kobia, head of the EU office in Azerbaijan, said at a meeting of members of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) with extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of EU states and the Caspian – Black Sea region in Baku.

The ambassador says that the European Union is ready to support efforts of the government in the sphere. Kobia points out that readiness of the EU to sign a deal on simplification of the visa regime and association with Azerbaijan demonstrates interest.

Azerbaijan will continue interaction with the EU based on the deal signed in 1996 and an agreement on partnership and cooperation of 1999.

Negotiations of associated membership were initiated in July 2010.
