Authorities of the Russian Trade and Industry Chamber have held meetings with business representatives of Iran and called for improvement of trade-economic cooperation, Iran News reports.
The director of the chamber’s Department for Foreign Economic Cooperation, Sergey Vasiliyev, said that the two states have old bilateral ties, they are neighbours. But the current trade turnover of $4 billion does not meet the potential of Russia and Iran.
The Iranian Deputy Ambassador to Russia, Ahmed Heydarian, noted the great potential to improve bilateral cooperation in the economy, science, culture and sports.
Officials of both states underlined that Russia and Iran have potential for greater trade turnover. Iran has an advantageous position for trade. Russia, with its population of 145 million, may become a good market for Iranian products.
The Russian Trade and Industry Chamber saw a presentation of products of an Iranian porcelain factory, which may be sold in Russia.
