Christine Lagarde: Russia expects political advantages from joining WTO

The IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde said that she sees no major immediate economic benefits for Russia from accession to the WTO, but expects that they will appear in the future at an open lecture in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.

The IMF chief expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization will soon be completed. In her opinion, Russia has two reasons to join the organization: economic and political advantages. Speaking about the economic benefits, Lagarde acknowledged that for Russia, they are not obvious.
