Russia financial aid to to eurozone not linked to energy - Putin

Russia does not link the question of financial assistance to EU to any issues in the field of energy, but expects that it will positively affect its status in the IMF, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said, RIA Novosti reports.

He recalled that President Dmitry Medvedev at the recent summit of the "big twenty" stated the Russian position on the opportunity to participate in solving the problems of the eurozone through the mechanisms of the IMF.

Putin noted that during the summit on Monday, the heads of government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) did not consider in detail the issues of the euro zone. They ddressed only aspects related to the possible negative impact of problems in the eurozone economies on the SCO member states.
