Statoil to expand cooperation with SOCAR

 

The signing of gas agreements between Azerbaijan and Turkey opens up great opportunities for Azerbaijan to play an important role in ensuring Europe's energy security in the "Southern Energy Stream" said today in Baku the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev at the meeting with the President of Norwegian Statoil Helge Lund.

During the meeting, Lund expressed the intention of his company to expand cooperation with SOCAR to the strategic level, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.

In late October, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a package of gas contracts that includes a transit agreement on transportation of Azerbaijani gas through Turkey.

The contract to develop the offshore "Shah Deniz" was signed on June, 4 1996. Participants of the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25,5 percent, SOCAR - 10 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, Lukoil - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent.
