Turkish air forces hit the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Northern Iraq on November 13, CNN Turk reports. Air raids continued the whole night.
Turkey started fighting terrorism in mid-August. Bombing was carried out in Northern Iraq and Turkey. The fight started after the attack against Turkish servicemen in south-east Turkey on August 17 with 9 Turks killed. Another Kurd attack happened at Khakkari Province on October 19 with 24 Turkish servicemen killed and 18 wounded. About 10,000 servicemen were mobilized for a mass operation against militants.
Turkey and the PKK have been in conflict for over 25 years. The Workers’ Party wants independence for the Kurdish state. The war has killed over 40,000 people. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
