The European Union has introduced a new block of sanctions against Syria, which includes the freezing of European credit and expansion of the "black list" for Syria, a diplomatic source said after a meeting of foreign ministers of the EU Council, ITAR-TASS reports.
According to the draft final statement of the EU Council issued by the foreign ministers, the EU has ceased lending money to Syria from the European Investment Bank.
Syria is one of nine member countries of the European program "Mediterranean Union", which has spent € 10.7 billion for the period from 2007 to 2013.
