Russia and India have signed a road map for large-scale cooperation between the two countries in the civil nuclear energy sector. Also as a result of the visit of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to India, a document on the establishment of a joint venture for the production of ground-based navigational equipment to receive signals from Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) has been signed, Interfax reported.
The head of Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko, detailed the essence of the road map for cooperation between Russia and India in the field of peaceful nuclear energy in 2010, which was to be signed during the visit of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to India.
"In the road map it is directly written [of the construction] of up to 16 reactors in India," Kiriyenko said on Friday in New Delhi. According to him, six of these units are to be built between 2012 and 2017.
