German foreign minister confident that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will join Nabucco

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle believes that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan would join Nabucco for successful realization of Nabucco, 1news.az reports.


The German minister discussed the issue with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.


Nabucco is the flagship of the Southern Corridor. It will be a 3300 km pipeline with the gas reserves of the Caspian Region, the Middle East and Egypt connected with the consumer markets of Turkey and Europe. It will secure the gas supplies of Turkey, South-Eastern, Central and Western Europe. The pipeline will run from Turkey to Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to Baumgarten in Vienna (Austria).


Construction will start in 2013, with the first gas expected in 2017.
