Baku will host a ministerial conference as part of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program of the Asian Development Bank on November 23-24, APA reports.
Officials will arrive from CAREC member-states, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund, the UN Development Program and the World Bank.
Samir Veliyev, head of the office of the Ministry for Economic Development and the CAREC coordinator of Azerbaijan, noted that the conference will support efficient cooperation of states of the region. 2011 will have sessions of 4 committees, high-ranking officials.
Claus Herhauser, head of the Eastern Asian Department of the ADB, reported that the conference will stress on three documents: the CAREC strategy for 2020, development of cooperation and the CAREC working plan.
CAREC was formed in 1997 and is supported by the Asian Development Bank, the Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund, the Islamic Development Bank, the UN Development Program and the World Bank. The goal of CAREC is economic cooperation in the Middle Asia.CAREC members are Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mongolia and China.
