Turkey reached an agreement with Shell in exploration of the Mediterranean Sea for oil and gas. A tender will be announced for exploration of hydro carbon resources in the Gulf of Mersin in December, Trend reports.
Petrobas (Brazil) has expressed interest. Shell, Exxon-Mobil, Chevron, Statoil are also planning to participate.
Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that Ankara would sign a deal with Shell next week for joint extraction of oil and gas in its economic zone in the Mediterranean Sea.
Turkey and the Northern Cyprus Republic started exploration in late September. It was a response of Ankara for explorations of the Cyprus Republic.
