Doha, the capital of Qatar, is hosting the 20th congress of the World Petroleum Council, Trend reports.
WPC President Randal Gossen noted that the congress is held on the background of dramatic events. Experts will present solutions to energy problems in the 4 days of the congress.
Renato Tado Bertani of Brazil will be the successor to Gossen for the next three years.
Astana will host the next conference in October 2012 as part of the 7th Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY. Director General of Kazenergy, Jambulat Sarsenov, proposed the initiative at a session of the Council of the World Petroleum Council decided on 21 October 2010.
It is the first meeting of the World Petroleum Council in the Middle East in 80 years. Over 5000 delegates have arrived, 32 of whom are ministers and over 100 heads of large companies. 600 speakers will make reports. An exhibition was organized for over 500 companies, covering 37,000 square meters. Kazenergy and KazMunayGaz and the Kazakh Ministry for Oil and Gas will represent Kazakhstan.
