Iran constructed 17,000km of road in 2011

Iranian Minister for Roads and City Construction Ali Nikzad said that the country had opened 17,000 km of roads at a cost of about $8.9 billion, Iran.ru reports.


Nikzad says that this includes railways, motorways and highways. 1,000 km of railways was built, 7,500 km – rural roads, 27 km of motorways.


Iran has about 3,500 flights weekly or up to 500 daily.
