Saakashvili to attract about $1 billion for new city construction

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili plans to spend $120 million on the construction of a new city in Western Georgia, Lazika, Business Georgia reports.


The Black Sea coast is home to the Anaklia City and Kulevi Village. A new city will be built.


Construction requires about $606-909 million. $120 million will be spent by the government in 4 years, the rest will be provided by investors.


45% of the country’s population is rural, this requires construction of new urban centers which will contribute to rural development.


Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri, Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili, Agriculture Minister Zaza Gorozia observed the area. They approved the president’s initiative.
