Russian transfers to Armenia exceed $1 billion

Armenians received transfers from individuals living abroad worth $1.24 billion in January-October 2011, News.am reports.


$1 billion was transferred to Armenia in the same period of 2010. $1 billion was sent from Russia in the first 10 months of 2011, compared with $830 million in the same period of 2010.


$60 million came from the U.S. in January-October 2011, compared with $54 million in 2010.


However, there are states where Armenia sends more non-commercial transfers than it receives. They are China, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Turkey received $4 million from Armenia and sent $1.9 million. Turkey received $25 million more non-commercial transfers.
