Japan’s three largest banks - The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Mizuho Bank - are planning to invest some $800 million in the Russian energy company Gazprom, ITAR-TASS reports.
The initiative is a result of the aggravating crisis in the eurozone, which EU states cannot cope with. Financial recession has caused multi-million-euro expenses for European companies, making them seem like riskier partners. Investments in Gazprom are expected to be a guarantee of success and stability, local analysts say.
