Iran to import bauxite from Guinea

The deputy minister for mines and geology of Iran, Mohammed Masud
Saminejad, said Tehran plans to import 4 mln tons of bauxite from
Guinea annually to provide a full supply for aluminum production,
Iran.ru reports.
Guinea-Conakry ranks first in the world with around 40 billion tons of
proven reserves of bauxite, which comprises two-third of the world's
bauxite reserves. According to Samiinejad, Iran and Guinea have
established joint a consortium to produce bauxite and then transport
it by sea to Iran.
