Bushehr nuclear power plant to operate at full output on March 20th, 2012

The first nuclear power plant of Iran, “Bushehr”, will be launched at full output on March 20th, 2012, producing 1,000 MW, RIA Novosti cites Energy Minister Majid Namju.


Bushehr was connected to the power network on September 3 with an output of 60 MW and later 500 MW.
The Iranian Organization for Nuclear Energy will give permission to connect the power plant to the national electric grid.


Construction of the nuclear power plant was started in 1974 by Kraftwerk Union A.G. (Siemens/KWU, Germany). Russia signed an agreement on completing construction of the first power block on August 25th, 1992. Shipments of the basic technological equipment started in 2001.


Bushehr was launched on August 21st, 2010, under the supervision of inspectors of the IAEA. It was then launched at minimal output on May 8th, 2011.
