Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been invited by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to visit Yerevan on December 23, Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Arakelyan said, Iran News reports.
Concerning political relations of Armenia and Iran, the ambassador noted that they are at a high level. Arakelyan noted that bilateral trade turnover increased by 40%, reaching $300 million in 2011, compared with $270 million in 2010.
The energy sphere has a significant part in bilateral relations. A gas pipeline, two power lines, the third is under construction, have been built. The presidents will also discuss construction of an oil pipeline, a railway and energy projects.
