SOCAR proposes increasing production in Shakh Deniz by 2014

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic suggests an alternative variant of the development of the second stage of the Shakh Deniz gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. This would allow production to be increased at this deposit by 2014, the first vice-president of SOCAR Hoshbaht Yusifzade said at the 17th international conference "Caspian Oil and Gas" in Baku.
SOCAR proposes installing two platforms and drilling 11 wells for each one, which will be developed from the platform, as is organized in other deposits of Azerbaijan. It will strengthen safety, allow low levels to be included and bring forward the date of production from 2016 till 2014, Yusifzade said.
