Belarus plans to continue receiving oil from Azerbaijan via Ukraine in 2012, despite improved conditions of oil purchases from Russia, Director General of the BNK-Ukarina Ltd., Nikolai Vasilevich, said, Interfax reports.
He noted that oil will be imported via the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline from Azerbaijan and via the port of Muuga in Estonia from Venezuela.
About 980,000 tons of Azeri Light oil were transported to Belarus through Ukraine in January-November 2011 as part of swap deals between Belarus, Azerbaijan and Venezuela. About 1 million tons of oil should be imported by the end of the year. Plans for 2012 are under consideration.
According to swap deals of the Belarusian Oil Company, PDVSA (Venezuela) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR), Azeri Light is transported via oil pipelines. Venezuela made direct imports of Sana Barbara oil to Belarus this year.
