The Airport of Antalya, which sees millions of tourists each year, has been announced as the best European airport of 2011, TRT reports.
Antalya is an example for tourism cities. Besides its five-star hotels, it now has a high-rated airport. The airport was praised for its quality and protection of environment, security, cooperation with publicity and fulfillment of clients’ demands.
The Airport of Antalya plans to increase the passenger flow to 45 million annually. It is the first airport using the project Build-Transfer-Operate and is the only airport with parallel and independent runways.
The passenger flow increases in the summer. A plane is landing or taking off once in every two minutes.
The airport had about 160,000 planes of inner and foreign airlines in 2011. The airport has about 25 million arriving this year, leaving behind 400 airports of 46 European states.
