Iranian Scientists Patent Cleaner Fuel Technology

Iranian scientists are making breakthroughs in reducing isomers to cut down the lead in gasoline to produce a higher and cleaner grade of fuel, Press TV reports on Tuesday.

The main objectives are to try and increase the current 16% gas production from crude oil to 33%, and increase the quality of oil products to meet Euro 5 standards.

Researchers are working on decreasing the saturation in gasoline to produce a higher and cleaner octane of fuel. The development of isomer technology allows the lead to be decreased in fuel for a higher and cleaner octane. Besides the Shazand Oil refinery in central Iran where the main project is underway, currently similar projects have expanded to other refineries such as Tehran, Bandar Abbas and Shiraz .
