Azerenergy, a company producing and distributing electricity in Azerbaijan, has started work on construction of new energy facilities to increase electric output this year, Trend cites Vice-President of the company Marlen Askerov as saying.
Construction of the Janub power plant and the second power block of the Shimal power plant will continue this year. Azerbaijan is actively building minor dams, some of which will open this year, and reconstructing power lines.
Askerov says that they will continue building new substations. He added that the country produces 6,200 MW and uses 3,300 MW. The latest initiatives may increase output to 7,000 MW.
Power plants controlled by Azerenergy produce over 6,000 MW. The company has 200 substations with an output of 500, 330, 220 and 110 KW and 6 hydro electric plants and 13 thermal power plants.
