About 200,000 cubic meters of silt have been gathered from the Grozny water reservoir. Reservoir cleaning started two months ago, ordered by Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov, his website says.
Yusup Chulikov, Assistant Acting Chairman of government, said that 24/7 regime of cleaning was adopted last week. More equipment will be brought up for the work. It will allow 30,000 cubic meters of silt to be gathered daily.
Chulikov said that they will need over a year to clear the Grozny reservoir. There are some 5 million cubic meters of silt that need removal.
Cleaning the reservoir bed is the first stage in reconstruction. The next stage involves construction of its banks. A hotel complex, restaurant in form of a plane, summer cafes, a fountain and a swimming pool, a trade and recreation center, a moon park, car parking lots, two beaches and a training center for the Terek FC are planned for construction. An analogue of the musical fountain of Dubai will beautify the beach complex.
