Azerbaijan increases oil exports by 17% in month

The Department for Marketing and Economic Operations of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) announced that oil exports in January 2012 had increased by 17.4%, compared with December 2011, ABC reports.

SOCAR said that 2.304 million tons of oil were exported in January, including 79,591 tons through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, 315,253 tons through the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline and 1.909 million tons through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline named after Heydar Aliyev.

27.609 million tons were exported in 2011, including 1.962 million tons in December and 2.574 million in June (export peak of the year). 1.988 million tons were exported through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, 2.652 million tons through the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline and 22.969 million tons through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

No oil exports have been made via the Baku-Batumi railway in 2009-2012.

SOCAR notes that the department makes accounts of own and state oil exports, according to PSA contracts.
