Exports through Baku-Supsa oil pipeline increase

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) exported 315,253 tons of oil through the Baku-Supsa pipeline in January, 1news.az reports.

This means that exports increased by 72,850 tons, compared with the same period in 2010. SOCAR exported 2.652 million tons of oil through Baku-Supsa in 2011, a drop of 187,000 tons compared with 2010.

Baku-Supsa transports oil from the Chirag Field as part of the deal signed by SOCAR and BP on September 20, 1994. The pipeline is 830 km long, including 775 km of the new pipeline section with a diameter of 21 inches (530 mm) and 55 of reconstructed pipeline. Baku-Supsa has a capacity of 7 million tons of oil annually (140,000 daily). It is operated by BP.
