Gas supply from Shah Deniz to be restored today

Gas supply from Shah Deniz is to be restored today, APA reports.

Tamam Bayatly, press secretary of BP-Azerbaijan, said that maintenance works had started at 4 pm yesterday.

25 million cubic meters of gas are extracted at the field daily. Turkey has recently stopped supplying Greece with gas after an incident.

Turkey imports 10 billion cubic meters from Iran, the second largest exporter of the resource to Turkey after Russia. Azerbaijan provides 6.6 billion cubic meters. Greece receives up to 800 million cubic meters of gas from Turkey annually, according to the deal of 2002. Gas re-exports started in 2007 after a pipeline launch between Karajabey (Turkey) and Komotini (Greece).

European demand for Russian gas increased by 25% in early February. The same increase was registered in late December.
