SOCAR plans to complete the construction of a new offshore platform in the shallow part of the Guneshli field by the end of 2012, Trend cites SOCAR as saying on Friday.
The construction is to be implemented by Deepwater SOCAR. Neftegazstroy is the main contractor.
Six modules are being built at the Deepwater plant, and two at the Neftegazstroy construction and assembly platform.
The platform is designed to drill four oil and eight gas wells and will be installed at a depth of 140-150 meters. A Chinese-produced drilling rig, helipad, modern apartment block, home block, modern fire, control and management systems, as well as biological treatment and
other necessary equipment will be installed on the platform,.
The platform will also be equipped with two ship cranes, a rescue tanker type boat and a few life rafts for 10 people each.
The platform will be able to wihstand nine-point earthquakes.
