The Dutch shipbuilding company "Damen Shipyards" has put into operation three CSD 500 dredge cutterheads on January 24, commissioned by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, Maritime-zone reports. The need to purchase these ships was dictated by the need to restrain the river Kura, which often overflows its banks. The new constructions will be used to enhance and maintain the river in a safe condition.
CSD 500 dredgers are capable of accomplishing operations 14 m under water, and their pumps have a capacity of 4000 m ³/h. New constructions will soon be transported in Neftchala, Azerbaijan, where a team for its operation will be trained. The overall length of the CSD 500 dredgers is 49.1 m, width - 7.95 m, draft - 1 m.
