Russia to sell T-90s to Algeria, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan

Russia will sell about 150 T-90s to Algeria and Turkmenistan, Vedomosti reports.

The two contracts are worth at least $0.5 billion. A contract on sales of 10 T-90s to Turkmenistan was fulfilled in 2010. Algeria received 185 T-90s in 2009.

The contract with Algeria is part of a package of contracts worth over $1 billion. The contracts were signed as instability in Tunisia and Egypt and war in Libya were starting.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and Rosoboronexport (the Russian state company for arms exports) signed a contract on purchases of T-90s, APA reports.

No details on the contract have been given.

T-90s are built at the Uralvagonzavod Science-Industrial Enterprise.
