State contribution to Olympstroi to drop by third

The Ministry for Regional Development has published information on amendments to the program of preparations for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. State contribution to Olympstroi, a state corporation, was reduced from 303 billion to 211 billion rubles. The contribution will be halved in 2012-2013, the peak of expenses, Vedomosti reports.

Alexey Chernyshev, a spokesman for the corporation, said that the changes were technical and would make the program meet the federal budget. 92 billion rubles will be saved, Vedomosti reports.

Officials say that the finances will be redistributed. For example, the police had budget changes due to the need for higher security. This is why the contribution to Olympstroi increased from 144 billion to 303 billion. The general budget of the Olympic Games will remain at about 1.3 trillion, with about 200 billion for sports facilities, the rest for infrastructure.
