Turkey to help Georgia build thermal power plant

The Georgian Industrial Group and Turkey’s MIMSAN Group have signed a contract on construction of a power plant in Gardabani today. The facility will have an output of 160 MW, Business Georgia reports.

Natiya Turnava, Director of the Georgian Industrial Group, said that the power plant will produce 1 billion KW hours annually and export it.

300 locals will be hired, 100 will operate the power plant. Construction will cost $100 million. It will be the largest thermal power plant in Georgia using coal from Tkibuli.
