In January Azerbaijan increased gas exports by 260% compared with the same period last year, and its share of total exports reached 2.72% vs. 2.61% for the whole of 2011, the source ABC.az reports.
As mentioned in the statement by the State Customs Committee, in January gas exports from the country amounted to 747,230 thousand cubic metres, according to the data of controlling and measuring instrumentation. 194,028 thousand m3 of gas worth $50286.5 thousand are registered in cargo customs declarations. The export price for 2012 is at the moment $259.17 for 1 thousand m3.
In 2011 exports of natural gas amounted to 7,092,209.8 thousand m3 (among these 921,600.1 thousand m3 in March - the best indicator for the previous year), and 2,885,821.8 thousand m3 of gas worth $574,551.8 thousand were registered. The export price was $267.4 per 1 thousand m3.
In 2010, gas exports from the country amounted to 1792.9 million m3 worth $ 288,545.4 thousand. The record volume of exports - 307,972.5 thousand m3 worth $54,765.7 thousand - was recorded in April. In 2010 the average export price of gas was $160.94 per 1 thousand m3. In 2009, gas exports from the country amounted to 671,711.4 thousand m3 worth $125,321.9 thousand at an average price of $186.57 per 1 thousand m3, while in 2008 -- 369,788.6 thousand m3 worth $73,872.7 thousand priced at $199.77 per 1 thousand m3, compared to $197.67 per 1 thousand m3 in 2007. The statistics take into account only the country’s own exports, omitting the details of the export by the international contractors from the Shah Deniz field.
Azerbaijan has been a net exporter of gas since 2007, primarily thanks to the Shah Deniz gas and oil fields.
