Representatives of Georgian wine companies are complaining about
the low popularity of Georgian wines on international markets,
Business Georgia reports.
A representative of the Georgian Wine Association, George
Abkhazava, said that the low popularity of Georgian wine on international
markets is primarily due to a lack of proper promotion of the
product.
George Abkhazava added that the main problem in this sector is the
lack of financial resources that affect the quality of advertising.
Wine industry specialists agree that Georgian wine has chances of
entering the international markets, but it would require effective
promotion of this little-known product.
According to the National Statistical Service of Georgia (Gruzstat), in
2011 exports of Georgian wine increased by 38% as compared with
previous years, amounting to 54 million US dollars.
