Turkmenistan's Berdimuhamedov to visit Ankara

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov plans to visit Turkey on February 29, Trend reports.

Turkey has invited the re-elected president to make his first visit to Ankara. The fact demonstrates traditional interstate partnership of Turkey and Turkmenistan.

Ankara plans to open the Turkmenistan Park and a monument for Makhtumkuli Fragi, a Turkmen poet and thinker. Berdimuhamedov plans to visit Istanbul and attend an exhibition of Turkmen products. Presidents of both states will attend a business forum. Ashkhabad wants to invite Turkish companies to build the Avaz Resort on the Caspian Sea coast, RIA Novosti reports.

Berdimuhamedov emphasized the role of extraction of Caspian gas and its transport to Europe through Turkey. There are plans to modernize gas pipelines going in the Russian direction.

The Turkmen president reminded about independent audition by Gaffney, Cline & Associates (UK) of the Galkynysh Field (Southern Yoloten-Osman, Minara and Yashlar). It contains about 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas, the world’s second largest reserve. Turkmenistan started realization of the second line of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline. The state increased gas supply for China to 65 billion cubic meters annually.

Berdimuhamedov noted efficient construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-

Pakistan-India gas pipeline.

Turkmenistan has the world’s fourth largest gas reserves, after Russia, Iran and Qatar. It exports supplies to Russia, Iran and China.

Berdimuhamedov’s visit will also mark the 20th anniversary of Turkmen-Turkish diplomatic relations.
