Kazakhstan buys European planes for Armed Forces

The Kazakh Air Forces will be supplemented by C-295s of Airbus, Kazinform reports.

The Republican State Enterprise Kazspetsexport, a branch of the Kazakh Defense Ministry, and Airbus Military signed a contract. The first two C-295s will arrive in early 2013. A memorandum of understanding will be signed to purchase six more planes. A total of 8 planes will arrive by the end of 2018.

C-295 was appreciated for its sustainability, controllability, maneuverability, automatic engine control, efficient anti-ice systems. The plane can travel over 5500 km. It may carry up to 10 tons. It is exploited in Spain, France, Czech Republic, Finland and other states. Kazakhstan is the first CIS state to purchase it.

The purchase was approved in May 2011.
