Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, EU to start Caspian gas talks

Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and the EU will start a new round of talks on shipments of Caspian gas to Europe in early March, as stated by Nikol Bokstaller, spokeswoman of the press office of EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, Trend reports.

The sides are preparing a document on support of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Trans-Caspian Pipeline, Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev said. They will be signed by the end of the year.

The EU Council issued a mandate for the negotiations in September 2011. Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and the EU plan to discuss the deals , bilateral agreements needed for construction of the Trans-Caspian Pipeline and Turkmenistan’s filling the pipeline with gas.
