Tbilisi has hosted a presentation of prospects of Georgian economy of 2011 at the Radisson Hotel. Georgia had a trade turnover of $9.244 billion in 2011, exceeding the figure of 2010 by 35%, Business Georgia reports.
75% of trade turnover is imports. Georgia had a foreign trade deficit of $4.865 billion in 2011, reducing by 32% compared with 2010. A similar figure was registered in 2008, but the economic rate was sufficient and balanced the deficit.
The presentation was held by the Center for Studies of Economic Policy and the Open Society Fund – Georgia. The Center for Studies of Economic Policy and the Open Society Institution started preparations of quarterly reports on Georgian economy in July 2011. This has been the fourth report.
