The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has launched the monitoring of
associated gas emitted into the atmosphere, News-Azerbaijan reports
referring to the environmental management of SOCAR.
Work is being carried out in the framework of implementation of the Geneva
Convention "On climate change."
The monitoring group will study emissions from oil wells.
Work is being carried out as part of the SOCAR strategy "On reducing the impact
on climate change", conducted also by their operating companies and joint
ventures.
SOCAR intends to utilize 100 % of associated gas from its oil
fields as compared with 97 % of utilization of the associated gas in
previous years.
According to last year's figures, in 2011 the company delivered 1.2 billion
cubic meters of associated gas to consumers.
