Deputy Director General of the Iran's State Trading Company, Abdus Ahmed in an interview with ISNA news agency said that Iran is planning to produce 14 million tons of wheat in the next year, Iran News reports. According to Ahmad Abdus, this amount of wheat exceeds the domestic demand in this product.
Abdus Ahmed noted that according to the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, the situation in the area of wheat production in the coming year will be favorable.
Abdus Ahmed said that despite the expected wheat harvest, Iran will continue to import wheat in order to keep all the country's facilities in effective exploitation.
