Ukraine’s Naftogaz to reform without lease right

The government of Ukraine has decided to pass an alternative to the bill proposed by the opposition on reformation of Naftogaz, forbidding the company to lease or privatize gas transport systems, RIA Novosti reports.

Deputy Minister for Energy and Coal Industry Vladimir Makukh said today that Ukraine should reorganize the petroleum sector as a member of the European Energy Community. This involves splitting Naftogaz into transporting and extracting companies.

The ministry and government support the proposal of MP Yuri Karamzin to pass the bill on reformation of the petroleum complex.
