The Ukrainian "Naftogaz" plans to receive more than 300 million euros for the modernization of the gas transportation system (GTS) in July, deputy head of "Naftogaz" administration Vadim Chuprun said today, ITAR-TASS reports.
He noted that Ukraine had offered the CTA, European companies and "Gazprom" to help them modernize the system, but that all of them refused.
Earlier, the European Commissioner for Energy, Guenther Oettinger, stated that the issue of allocating funds from international financial institutions for the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system had to be resolved before the June or July 2012.
Last year Chuprun said that the modernization of the Urengoy-Uzhgorod-Pomary gas pipeline would require about $1.2 billion. In February, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Vladimir Makukha, said that Ukraine expects about 300 million euros from the European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the modernization of facilities.
