Royal Dutch Shell 'owes Iran $1 billion'

Royal Dutch Shell was the main trade partner of Iran, but their business stopped when Iran was banned from the SWIFT payment system, Iran News reports.


The company was buying 100,000 barrels of oil daily and owes $1 billion. In other words, the company is yet to pay for 8 million barrels. Shell has several months to pay.


SWIFT has 18 million operations daily in 210 countries all over the world. 30 Iranian banks were banned from the system.
