Turkey reduces oil purchases from Iran

Turkey reduced oil purchases from Iran, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Sunday, Vzglyad reports.

The minister clarified that oil purchases dropped by 10%, compensated by imports from Libya. Turkey is the fifth largest oil importer from Iran.

US President Barack Obama said on March 30 that Washington will persuade foreign states to ban Iranian oil. The US Congress authorized administration two months ago to pass additional sanctions against foreign financial institutions and companies striking deals with Iran. The US wants Iran to abandon its nuclear program via economic pressure.
