SOCAR becomes Turkey’s top investor

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) is the top investor in Turkey, CEO of the Petkim Holding Vagif Aliyev said at the 47th anniversary of the holding, Trend reports.

By the end of 2017, SOCAR will have invested $17 billion. Besides investing in Petkim, SOCAR is interested in other economic projects.

Petkim General Manager Hayat Ozturk said that Petkim will turn into the energy leader of Turkey in a few years.

Socar Turkey Enerji A.Ş and SOCAR International DMCC OGG purchased 10.32% of Petkim on March 30, increasing the share to 61.32%. 38.68% of shares belong to the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Petkim Petrokimya Holding produces plastic packages, cloth and detergents. It is the only manufacturer of such products in the country. 25% of products are exported.
