Azerbaijan will ban imports of vehicles without anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and airbags on May 1. T chairman of the State Customs Committee, Aydyn Aliyev, said that his structure will fulfill the order, Trend reports.
The goal of the new ban is to improve the safety of drivers and passengers. Four-wheel-drive cars will not undergo the ban. The AZS 635-2012 state standard sets out certification rules.
The ban concerns vehicles weighing under 2.5 tons. VAZ-2121 Niva and UAZ will not be banned.
