Russia’s Sberbank is considering purchasing shares of Turkey’s Denizbank, a bank struck by recession in Europe, Gazeta.ru reports.
The National Bank of Qatar offered a large sum to purchase the Turkish bank.
Sberbank said in autumn 2011 that it is interested in expanding business in Turkey and negotiations on purchase of Denizbank. The deal was worth $3.7 billion back then. But in October, Sberbank scrapped the idea, pointing out instability of financial markets.
