The Azerbaijani Ministry for Communication and Information Technologies has decided to organize gradual switch to digital television to have full coverage by the end of this year, Trend reports.
Azerbaijan adopts the DVB-T digital TV standard, approved by the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting.
In order to stimulate digital TV, state structures were ordered to develop proposals on import and production of digital decoders and TVs using the said standard.
The ministry said that 85% of the country has digital TV broadcasting. 100% coverage is planned to be achieved by the end of 2012.
