Russia exported 18.5 million tons of wheat from July 1, 2011, to April 1, 2012, a historic record, Interfax cites Dmitry Rylko, Director of the Institute for Conjuncture of the Agrarian Market, as saying.
18.275 million tons were exported in the 2009-2010 agricultural year. About 20.5 million are expected to be exported in the 2011-2012 agricultural year.
The current agricultural year ends on June 30, 2012. Rylko says that 25-26 million tons will be exported. The main purchasers of Russian wheat are North African, Middle Eastern states and Turkey.
